What is FutureReadyNYC?

Bronx Envision Academy has joined the Future Ready NYC Initiative! 100 schools were chosen to be part of this initiative.  Through this initiative, schools receive support and funding to provide career-connected learning experiences to their high school students.  Schools with Future Ready programs develop career pathways to ensure students are future-ready!

Our school has chosen the technology track, preparing students for careers and advanced study in this dynamic and growing career field.

We will focus on five key elements:

  1. Career-connected instruction
  2. Financial/ digital literacy
  3. Early college credits
  4. Work-based learning opportunities
  5. Individualized college and career advising so students graduate with a plan and a pathway

FutureReadyNYC integrates college and career preparation to successfully launch students into strong careers in high-demand careers. Through FutureReadyNYC, a student can graduate with career readiness skills, a strong plan, and access to early college credits and career credentials.  In 9th grade, BEA students can opt to take an introductory technology course in Computer Science. In 10th grade, students participate in college courses through our partners at Lehman College. In 11th grade, students participate in paid internships and can study Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles. In 12th grade, students can also study AP Computer Science Principles and are provided with job shadowing opportunities in the technology industry.

Community Schools

Bronx Envision Academy is a new Community School!

The community school strategy is an approach to education that addresses the needs of students, families, and communities by providing a wide range of services and supports in and outside of school. NYC community schools collaborate with lead community-based organization (CBO) partners to create welcoming, supportive environments that support the whole child and promote academic success, as well as social and emotional well-being.

The Office of Community Schools mission is to create and sustain school and CBO Partnerships through intentional collaborative leadership that empower students, families, and communities to thrive.

We are proud to partner with Triad Consulting Strategies to support our school community.

The Lighthouse Collaborative

Bronx Envision Academy joined New York City's Lighthouse Collaborative in spring 2023.

The Lighthouse Collaborative is a cross-district instructional improvement initiative designed to support the Chancellor’s Four Pillars, with an emphasis on expanding our ability to “scale, sustain and restore what works” through collaborative inquiry and sharing of promising practices.

All Lighthouse Collaborative schools open their doors to a citywide audience to share promising practices within an instructional focus area. These visits are open to all school-based staff, superintendent teams, and Central staff.

We are excited to partner with other innovative New York City public schools to focus on Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education, and we are happy to share our learning with educators across the city.

Educators, if you would like to learn more about our practices, please join us for our Citywide visit on December 8, 2023: Register for our Lighthouse Visit Here
